- This area of learning is split into 2 areas:
- Gross motor (large muscle movements e.g. running, jumping)
- Taught through weekly lessons by a PE coach and during weekly dance lessons.
- Developed during get learning, particularly in the outdoor classroom, where children will dig, build using large bricks or lift heavier objects.
- Fine motor (smaller muscle movements e.g. gripping a pencil or using cutlery).
- Correct pencil grip is encouraged and developed from the start of reception, with a ‘funky fingers’ area of the classroom, which has carefully selected activities which support and develop finger/hand muscles.
- Children a range of tools during get learning session such as scissors, tweezers, paintbrushes, pens and pencils to develop their fine motor skills, alongside cutlery to eat their lunch.
