RSHE (PSHE)
Relationships, Sex and Health Education at St John's
Relationship and Health Education at St. John’s builds on children’s knowledge and understanding of their health, wellbeing, relationships and self esteem, enabling them to flourish within and beyond our school.
It is broken down in to six themes, which build progressively throughout the year and across the Key Stages, from Reception to Year 6. Our six themes are:
Our Safety
Our Relationships
Our Community
Our Bodies
Our Future
Our Feelings and Wellbeing
Each half term the children cover each of the six themes on a cyclical basis, and each lesson the children revisit prior learning from the last lesson (theme) and the last lesson from the theme for that lesson. This ensures the children build on their prior knowledge and make links within and across the six themes.
Learning is captured weekly in the class RHE portfolio and on the 'washing line' in the classroom. Throughout the week, references are made to the outcomes and learning on the washing line to support and deepen understanding across the curriculum and the children's personal development.
