Sports & Clubs
We are delighted to announce that we, St. John’s C of E, have achieved the School Games GOLD LEVEL Mark Award for the previous academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. This year, the School Games Mark has been put on pause, and as a result schools will retain their 2019 School Games Mark Award level.
Our sporting achievements this year have included:
-97% of pupils representing the school in a competition from Year 2 – 6.
-Boys Football League Winners and Cup Runners Up
- Active links with more than 5 local community and pathway sport and leisure providers
- Engaging over 55% of pupils in extracurricular sporting and physical activity each week
- Providing ALL pupils with at least 2 hours of PE per week
With a total of 116 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
