Uniform

St John's Dress Code

  • Where a child with SEND requests flexibility in the dress code, we recognise that this is a necessary reasonable adjustment in order for them to fully access the school environment.
  • Some people of faith place importance on the concepts of modesty and dignity in dress which carry the status of religious obligation. We recognise that children and parents may choose certain items of religious clothing even when this is not a religious requirement.
  • Restrictions on an individual’s choice to express their religious beliefs through dress, symbols, hairstyles or coverings may be restricted only where health and safety is directly affected, and parents have been consulted.

Uniform at St John’s does not need to be branded with the school logo. Alternatives are readily available in high street stores and supermarkets and can offer a more affordable alternative. If you are struggling with any aspect of uniform for your child, please contact Mrs Stevenson or Mrs Henderson for help and support.

Free pre-loved uniform will be available half-termly. This event will be highlighted in our school newsletter.

We ask that ALL articles of clothing and footwear are clearly marked with the child’s name.

All the uniform including sensible coats with waterproofing, and items with the school logo i.e.; sweatshirts/cardigans, polo shirts fleeces, sun hats and ties are available from The Schoolwear Company, Winsford Avenue, Coventry.

It is important that children wear sensible black shoes. High heels, boots and trainers are not appropriate for general school wear.

No jewellery will be allowed in school for reasons of Health and Safety.  Children may wear stud earrings and a wrist watch.  However, we would like to discourage all children from wearing earrings for pierced ears. These cause considerable potential for injury during P.E. lessons and play activities.  Children who chose to wear studs must be able to remove them themselves for PE lessons.
